Stripe
Connect Stripe to import payments, subscription invoices, refunds, and acquisition context into Grometrics.
Last updated September 2026
Overview
Connect Stripe to import confirmed payments, subscription invoices, refunds, and subscription activity. Grometrics connects those records to tracked visitors and acquisition sources when your Checkout integration passes a Grometrics visitor or session identifier.
Steps
Connect your Stripe account
Open Integrations, choose Stripe, then use OAuth or a restricted API key.
- OAuth sends you to Stripe to approve access and returns you to Grometrics.
- For a restricted key, set Account, Charges, Refunds, Invoices, and Subscriptions to Read. Set Webhook Endpoints to Write.
- Grometrics checks every permission selected for import before replacing an existing Stripe connection.
- Choose whether to import payments, subscriptions, refunds, or all three.
Import recent history
The first sync imports the previous 30 days. Grometrics follows every Stripe result page within that period instead of stopping after a fixed record count.
- Later scheduled syncs repeat the previous 24 hours so temporary delivery failures can recover safely.
- Signed Stripe webhooks bring new confirmed activity into Grometrics between scheduled checks.
- Duplicate delivery does not create a second payment, refund, or subscription activity record.
- Subscription creation, cancellation, and payment failure remain available to funnels without counting as sales or revenue.
Preserve Checkout attribution
Add the current Grometrics visitor ID as grometrics_visitor_id in Checkout Session metadata. Add grometrics_session_id when you also have the current session ID.
- You can use
client_reference_idas the visitor fallback when metadata is unavailable. - Do not place personal or secret data in attribution metadata.
- Delayed payment methods are recorded only after Stripe sends
checkout.session.async_payment_succeeded.
Verify the result
Complete one real or test payment, then open Transactions and confirm the Stripe amount, currency, source, and visitor evidence.
- Check a subscription invoice and confirm the first payment and renewal classification.
- Create a partial refund and confirm Grometrics records the exact refund once.
- Return to Integrations and confirm that Stripe shows the correct account and a successful sync time.
Earlier Stripe history
The automatic initial import covers 30 days. Use the Grometrics Events API or contact support when you need a controlled import for an earlier period. Do not reconnect repeatedly to extend the range.
Troubleshooting
A restricted key is rejected
Confirm Account and each selected import area have Read permission. Subscription imports require both Invoices and Subscriptions Read permission. Webhook Endpoints must have Write permission. A rejected key does not replace your existing Stripe connection. Create a new restricted key after changing its access.
A payment has no source
Confirm Checkout receives the Grometrics visitor ID before the Session is created. A Stripe customer email alone is not exact acquisition evidence.
A delayed payment is missing
Wait until Stripe confirms the payment. Grometrics does not count an unpaid completed Checkout Session as revenue.
Stripe disconnected with a webhook warning
Your Grometrics credentials are already removed. Open Stripe Dashboard, find Webhooks, and remove the endpoint that points to your Grometrics callback URL.
Stripe reconnected with a cleanup warning
The new Stripe connection is active. Open Stripe Dashboard, find Webhooks, and remove older endpoints that point to the same Grometrics callback URL. Keep the newest endpoint.
